Have you ever considered how marquee themes can really bring a marquee into its own during the winter months? Such a statement may seem slightly at odds with the time of year, but if you’ve read up on how effectively marquees can be heated you’ll know that there is no need to worry about being under canvas in the cold weather – and we think this provides the perfect opportunity to surprise and delight guests who may look on a marquee as a rather ‘unexpected’ venue for a winter event.

An evening marquee party or event during the winter months means lighting the way is an absolute must, so an event theme can be put to work before anyone even sets foot inside the marquee space. From colour-wash lighting to add drama to the setting to lanterns lining a pathway, the lighting will create a sense of anticipation as your guests approach the marquee – inside, anything could be about to happen!

And that’s the fun of bringing a theme to life inside a marquee. A magical winter wonderland is very popular at this time of year, with white and silver the predominant colours, fake snow and winter foliage – add a lamppost and you’ve created Narnia. This kind of look works equally well for a winter wedding, birthday or anniversary.

Ski lodge marqueeOr how about scaling the heights of the Alps and partying in a ski lodge! When it comes to theming and dressing a marquee interior the only limitation – unlike a traditional venue – is one’s imagination. We love how Oasis Events conjured up the interior of an alpine chalet for one particular marquee event. Fur throws, benches and red gingham drapery combine to transport guests hundreds of miles, far beyond the Surrey hills! Add props such as ski paraphernalia, sleds and skates, wall-mounted deer heads, a wood burner and rustic oak barrels and the look is complete. Of course, the masterstroke has to be the marquee wall lining. In this case it was printed to take on the look of wooden panels; a brilliant way of pulling the entire theme together.SKi Lodge
