Anniversary

It’s one of the biggest days of your life, one you will remember forever – but sometimes it can be easy to forget the actual date you got married!

We may not be able to help you remember the date (other than suggesting you make sure it’s always in your diary/calendar), but we can certainly give you inspiration for how to celebrate milestone anniversaries.

1st anniversary

The traditional theme for a first anniversary is paper. Popular gifts include a handwritten note, poem, photograph of your wedding day, and a clock has become a modern alternative to represent the love and time you have spent together as a couple. Thinking of having a party in the garden? Keep it low-key and put up some Chinese hat pagoda marquees  for protection against the weather, and lay on a buffet of your favourite foods for a casual dining experience.

25th anniversary
Represented by silver, a nice piece of jewellery is the obvious gift idea. But 25 years together is a great reason to have a party. Why not put up a marquee in your garden but so would a party – a marquee in your garden would be a lovely addition, extend your house for a sit down meal with family and friends and decorate with touches of silver for an elegant party; silver roof drapes, table décor and lots of champagne!

30th anniversary
The longer you’re married, the more precious the gift and pearl represents the 30th anniversary. Pearl lends itself well for a party theme. A marquee dressed in silver, gold, ivory and rose will create an elegant atmosphere, along with an LED starlit dancefloor. And don’t forget to put oysters on your menu!

40th anniversary
Ruby immediately conjures up thoughts of rings and cufflinks. Or think laterally and order red roses galore! A rose bush planted in your garden is a lovely thought and a lasting gift that will blossom for years to come. If you’re planning a celebration party, a marquee dressed in reds and creams will look lovely. Lay a cream carpet and decorate the table in burgundy to finish off this sumptuous look.

50th anniversary

This is the big one – gold! Fifty years of togetherness is definitely something to celebrate, so why not invite your family and close friends to celebrate with you. Imagine a marquee dressed with gold drapes, balloons and twinkling fairy lights over the ceiling. A special three-course dinner would be ideal, and how about a live band to entertain your guests afterwards.

60th anniversary
The diamond anniversary has to be an extremely elegant affair. Why not arrange to have a marquee house extension and invite your nearest and dearest for a special dinner. Diamonds are sophisticated, so keep the theme low key, delicate and stylish.

70th anniversary
Congratulations, you’ve reached your platinum anniversary! Why not mark the occasion by exchanging gifts that remind you of when you first met or married? And a special celebration will surely be in order. A sit-down meal in a marquee dressed simply but stylishly in silver and white would be perfect. And make sure the champagne is chilled and ready to pop!
