If there is one new trend we have fallen in love with this year, it’s the American style wedding. Combining a rustic, intimate atmosphere with a little glitz and glamour, American-inspired decoration can make for one extremely stylish wedding. The great news is that these looks can be achieved relatively easily – it’s all about utilising a few key statement pieces. Here are our tips for the perfect American style wedding…
Tennessee Farm Style
The beauty of a deep south farm theme is the warmth and intimacy it evokes, and one of the best way to achieve this is with your table setting. Go for long dining tables such as our Rustic Trestle Tables so everyone is on the same level, and make sure you have your key item – Crossback chairs. You can’t go far wrong with these, as nothing screams ‘deep south’ more!
For lighting think swagged festoon lights with white or ivory draped fabrics. This idea springs from decorating soaring barn ceilings, but can work just as well in any venue or a marquee. You want that outdoor, close to nature feel. Muslin drapes overhead, or a rustic lace backdrop are perfectly complemented by strings of festoons. You can even throw in some rustic lace lanterns…
Nothing will take your Tennessee Farm style wedding to the next level like authentic looking Tennessee Whiskey barrels. Our rustic barrel tables and bar are super versatile – use them as a display for your wedding cake, for giant punch jars of pink lemonade, or create a food stand bursting with delicious home-made food. Signage is also typically southern farm-style, so make it personal yet informative!
We were so inspired and excited by this theme we’ve acquired a whole lot of new stock for it, including a rustic lace backdrop and rustic lace lanterns.
The other side of American styling is a little less rustic and much more contemporary glamour. Think along the lines of a laid-back approach but with some real glitz and opulence – it’s all about the heavily gathered draping, sequins, crystals and muted metallics with deep purple and champagne hues.
One of the best things you can do is set the scene with lots of gathered draping. Low lighting, strong colours, and uplighters strategically positioned will give your event an atmosphere of extravagance. The best part is that wall drapes on self-standing gantries can also provide a practical solution to any number of problems – hide any undesirable features of the venue, customise the space to accommodate your party size, create a “soft” demarcation between two spaces or create an eye-catching backdrop for the head table.
In a similar vein, opulent table cloths are fantastic for this theme, such as textured and ruffled materials. We particularly love sequin tablecloths in muted metallics! Blushes, purples, golds and champagne colours work best for this theme, but choose whatever you like – the idea is excess!
A few statement pieces will go a long way. A crystal swag chandelier is the real show-stopper, as what says opulence more than an abundance of dripping crystals? Glass candelabra also look wonderfully extravagant glittering on each table centre, especially paired with a statement sequin tablecloth. A glamorous silver mirror with a table plan in chalk writing could be just the thing to set off your perfectly lavish dinner. For the more relaxed seating areas in the evening, mirror-top tables are the perfect look for this theme – especially topped with mirrored votive holders. We’ve got a lot of new stock in, so check out our website and American Style Pinterest Boards to get some more inspiration.
