In the second part of our trends blog Emma at Goose & Berry gives her thoughts on the atmosphere, style and venues that will
be popular for 2016 events.
Intimacy and personalisation are the key trends for wedding ceremonies and receptions; it is more about embracing personality as a couple with nearest and dearest, rather than showing off with a ‘look at me’ day. Couples are now footing the bill themselves therefore cost and budgeting is more important than ever – keeping the guest list down is a great way to save money and spend quality time with close friends and family who matter.
Informal will be big, from styling to the whole venue atmosphere, casual table settings will influence how food is set up and styled, read more about the catering trends 2016 here. The traditional round table will evolve into different shapes and sizes such as square, long and rectangular which will create a mismatch of furniture in one venue.
Alternative seating such as ghost chairs will be prevalent throughout; particularly popular will be venues that offer more flexibility especially those that have a blank canvas so that individuals can stamp their own personality on the event such as marquees, farms and barns.
The festival theme is always big and with its informal atmosphere will be even more so this year, while also taking influence from the London Fashion Week trends big botanicals, hippy vibes and soft pastel colours. The DIY bride will be working her magic with trees, flowers and rustic looking décor to bring the outside inside, while lighting will help create a contemporary atmosphere with fire pits, festoon lighting and coloured LED lights for a stunning effect particularly as the sun sets.
