The mud may have quite literally sucked wellington boots from feet and the rain may have bucketed down, but did anyone spot any festival goers looking glum at this year’s Glastonbury? Nope, nor did we. And, if you were watching the TV coverage from the comfort of your sofa, did you occasionally think ‘wow, wouldn’t it be great to actually be there’? Yes, so did we.
During Radio 2’s coverage of the festival on Saturday, Jo Whiley waxed lyrical about how special Glastonbury is, even after 20+ years of going there. She said she gets a ‘tingle’ when she arrives and described the festival as an ‘amazing spectacle’ with a ‘delicious feeling in the air’. So wouldn’t it be great to recreate that on a smaller scale for a special event such as a wedding reception or milestone birthday?
Well, you can! Hire a marquee, decorate it with brightly coloured fabrics, bunting and flags and you’ll be well on the way to creating a little corner of Worthy Field. And why not add a pagoda marquee or two – with their lovely high peaks they look fantastic and are really versatile spaces that can create an extra dimension to the party area, take a look at our galleries for inspiration.
If you’re worried about the weather, don’t be! At Inside-Outside, our marquees are made to withstand strong winds and heavy downpours. Boarded flooring means that sodden grass isn’t an issue and discreet heating will keep guests warm even if the temperature out
side is plummeting.
And don’t forget the music! For a proper festival vibe, you’ll want live music. We may not be able to book Coldplay or Adele, but we have the next best thing – some fantastic bands, such as Rollercoaster who know how to work a crowd and create a fantastic atmosphere. To complete the Glastonbury feel, why not invite some alternative entertainers along as well – jugglers, stilt walkers, circus performers, they’ll all add to the fun and we know where to find them!
And what about the details no one wants to mention?
Of course, the loos! Many of us probably have less than pleasant notions of bathroom facilities at Glastonbury. 5,000 portable toilets were installed at the festival, including three talking toilets! Musician Cerys Matthews and actors Brian Blessed and Kathy Burke lent their voices to WaterAid’s ‘babbling bogs’ to promote the charity’s Toilets Save Lives campaign.
Portable toilets have come a long way over the years and, when it comes to weddings and events, there is certainly no need to send your guests to a grimy portaloo that looks ready to topple over. Companies such as ZooLoos, (who supply luxury Yurts, Toilets and Washing facilities for Glastonbury revellers to enjoy), Just Loos and Loos for Do’s supply luxury toilets for events. We’re talking super-stylish interiors, designer beauty products, the very latest technology to ensure a high standard of hygiene and sanitation – facilities that would probably put a few ‘proper’ bathrooms to shame!
Just because you’re partying in a field or garden it doesn’t mean you and your guests should need to compromise on comfort and style. Glastonbury proves year after year that people have a great time outdoors, even when the weather is dire – plan your festival party or wedding with Inside-Outside and we’ll make sure that it’ll be a mud-free and joyous occasion!
