Are you glued to the TV on Saturday evenings watching the musical double whammy that is ‘Let it Shine’ and ‘The Voice’. Do you get why the stars light up for one singer and not another, or why those chairs just don’t turn for a great voice? Or why one voice gives you goose bumps (in a good way!) and another has you reaching for volume control?
The judges on these and other talent shows often talk about passion and honesty, feeling what they’re singing and the importance of connecting with the audience. And of course, they’re right. Possessing the technical skills to sing means nothing if they’re not singing from the heart – how else can a performer please their audience!
Playing to a marquee full of party goers or wedding guests may not be the same as appearing at Wembley Arena, but it would be very wrong to assume that you can get away with hiring a band at a rock bottom price and expect the most fantastic evening. Far better, then, to go to the best and book a reputable band that can provide references and testimonials to prove their quality.
We can put you in touch with some of the best bands around
At Inside Outside, we know just how important it is to get the entertainment absolutely right at a special event, so we had a chat with Lemon Entertainment to find out a bit more about some of their artists.
Having worked in the music industry for many years, and with experience of running live music events, Lucy Eveleigh of Lemon Entertainment knows what it takes to please a crowd – whether it’s a field of festival goers or a marquee full of wedding guests. She says: “Good performers love what they do, no matter how big their audience or whether they’re on a concert stage or playing to a wedding party where the audience spans generations. I could never work with anyone who just churns out the tunes one week after the next, their set would be a disaster. But bands whose members are full of talent and an innate sense of what works never fail to fill the dancefloor – their enthusiasm and love of what they do is infectious.”
So what bands get our marquees rocking?
The Diamond Boys can play both acoustic sets and amplified on stage, and their range is huge – whether you want good old rock’n’roll or back-to-back pop classics, they know how to deliver an amazing experience. Similarly, The Buffalo Band performs just about every musical genre, from Motown to rock. They can also DJ in between sets, so your guests will have no chance of sitting down for a breather! Brothers of Loot is an acoustic duo that have been together for over ten years, performing in pubs and clubs, and even working with Bonnie Tyler – great voices, great guitar playing, great covers of great songs by the likes of James Bay and Ed Sheeran.
The five performers who make up the JC Band have an incredible pedigree – performing to royalty, being involved in huge West End shows, working with major recording artists – so when they perform together, it is unbelievably exciting. If jazz is more your things, Lemon Jazz is perfect and has performed at top jazz clubs all over Europe, including the famous Ronnie Scott’s. The group varies in size – from a duo to quartet – according to what you want, and with or without a vocalist.
And if you’re looking for something a little quieter, or as background music for a wedding ceremony or drinks reception, Lemon Entertainment has just the thing – Florence and The Machine’s harpist (yes, really!) Tom, and David, a classical and flamenco guitarist who is highly respected in the music industry.
