Busbridge Lakes – Godalming, Surrey
If you are looking for something truly unique and quirky, then Busbridge Lakes, set in the grounds of a Heritage Garden and hidden in its own private valley, fits the bill perfectly.
The Heritage grade 2A gardens date from the 18th century and feature many mature specimen trees and shrubs as well as three beautiful lakes and a collection of rare, endangered and exotic birds.
The gardens are renowned for their follies and grottoes, including a Doric Temple and Gothic Boathouse; ideal for exploring – and the perfect setting wedding photos, along with a rustic stone bridge which spans the lake too.
Originally the coach-house and stabling for the original Busbridge Hall, the house is thought to have been adapted by renowned English architect Sir Edwards Lutyens around 1906.
Guests arrive through an arched entranceway into the cobbled courtyard for the old coach house and its clock tower. From there guests pass through elegant, black swan wrought iron gates and out into the enchanting and whimsical grounds where the marquee is located on the main lawn, overlooking the Canal lake surrounded by formal lawns and magnificent old specimen trees.
Busbridge lakes offer bridal facilities and wedding preparation spaces, but do not offer accommodation on site. That said, the venue is within striking distance of several suitable hotels and guest houses.
